St. Cloud, MN – Stillwater native Cooper Wylie announced his commitment to St. Cloud State via Twitter on November 22 tweeting “I am honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at St. Cloud State University. Special thanks to my family, teammates, and my coaches for helping me achieve my goals. Excited for the future!
The 6’1″ 180 pound Wylie is a left-shooting defenseman currently playing for the Waterloo Blackhawks of the United States Hockey League. The 19 year-old is a product of Stillwater High School registering 7 goals and 18 assists for 25 points including 4 power play goals in 2019-20. He was originally tendered by the Bismarck Bobcats of the NAHL in February of 2020 and then subsequently drafted 75th by the Blackhawks in the 2020 USHL Entry Draft.
Wylie is described as a high intensity, two-way player with a maturing frame who can play the physical game. He also posesses a good shot.
There is no indication when he would be expected on campus but it is assumed it would be no earlier than the 2022-23 season.
