Cole Maier scored twice for the Dutchman as they outshot Army 30-25 and defeated the Black Knights 4-1 in Schenectady, NY.
Boston College 8 Acadia 1
The Eagles scored three goals in the first seven minutes of the contest and breezed to a 8 -1 victory over Acadia University. Oliver Wahlstrom scored twice in the win.
Miami 5 Huntsville 1
Veteran players Gordie Green, Karch Bachman and Grant Hutton all had a hand in the scoring as the RedHawks outshot the Chargers 38-18 winning by a 5-1 score in Oxford, OH.
Western Michigan 4 Lethbridge 1
Colt Conrad scored twice and the Broncos outshot Lethbridge 47-11 and coasted to a 4-1 win in Kalamazoo, MI.
Bemidji State 5 Lakehead University 1
Former SCSU recruit Brendan Harris had a goal and an assist and Owen Sillinger scored twice as the Beavers beat Lakehead of Thunder Bay, ONT 5-1. Former SCSU goaltender Zach Driscoll played 20 minutes and yielded the lone goal of the game for Lakhead.
UMD 1 Minnesota 1 OT
The two sister universities skated to a 1-1 overtime draw in former SCSU head coach Bob Motzko’s debut for the Gophers. Sampo Ranta scored the lone goal for the U of MN in period one and Peter Krieger scored the equalizer for the Bulldogs. The two squads meet again in Minneapolis on Sunday, October 7.
MSU Mankato 7 Mount Royal University 3
The Mavericks scored twice in the first minute of play and rolled to a 7-3 win over the Cougars in Mankato. Seven different players scored for MSU against SCSU’s Sunday opponent in St. Cloud.
North Dakota 3 Manitoba 2 OT
Despite out-shooting the Bison 55-9, the Fighting Hawks still had to resort to an overtime goal on the power play to defeat Manitoba 3-2. Rhett Gardner scored the game-winner 3:03 into the overtime session.
Denver 6 Alberta 4
The Pioneers had their hands full with the Golden Bears rebounding from a 3-3 second period tie to win 6-4. Former SCSU recruit Cole Guttman had three assists in the win. First-year forward Emilio Pettersen scored twice to lead the Pioneers. Alberta outshot DU 40-34.
Arizona State 3 Alaska 0
The Sun Devils blanked the Nanooks, SCSU’s next opponent 3-0 in announced
sellout of 644 attendees. ASU outshot Alaska 34-23.
Colorado College 10 U of Alaska- Anchorage 2
The Tigers left nothing on the table as they throttled the Seawolves 10-2. Surprisingly, big guns Bergh, Halloran and Bradley were held to one point in the route.
