AJHL’S Ethan Leyer Commits to SCSU Huskies

St. Cloud, MN – The St. Cloud State University run on commitments continues as a speedy forward from the Alberta Junior Hockey League announced his commitment to the Huskies via twitter on September 27th. Ethan Leyer, a 5′ 8″ 155 pound right-shooting forward from St. Albert, AB announced “I’m honoured to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at St. Cloud State University. I’d like to thank my coaches, friends and most importantly my family for helping me pursue my hockey goals!”

The 16 year-old is currently skating for the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL and has one assist in 5 games. He had an awfully productive season in 2017-18 while playing for Northern Alberta Elite 15’s of the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) scoring 17 goals and adding 32 assists for 49 points in just 35 games. The Elite 15’s are the top midget division of the CSSHL.

One of Leyer’s biggest assets is his breakaway speed. He’s good around the net and has shown an ability to put up impressive offensive numbers at every level he’s played including 54 points in 33 games at the bantam AA level and 68 points in 36 games at the bantam AAA level. .

Leyer was a 2017 draft choice of the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League.
