5 Minute Click: SCSU Hockey Update 9/6/18

A few quick updates:

  • If you haven’t signed up for the Inaugural SCSU Hockey Puck Drop Breakfast on September 15th  from 8:30 to 10:30 you can do so  here . This event will be emceed by the voice of the Huskies Jim Erickson and you’ll hear from SCSU coaches Brett Larson and Eric Rud and the team captains. You’ll also get to interact with current Husky players.
  •  Judd Peterson has signed with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. More Here
  • SCSU commit Brady Ziemer (Holy Family Academy) will be lacing up the skates with the Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCHL). The coaching staff has high expectations for this future Husky.
  • The Huskies have had a lot of activity with future commitments. Recently they’ve received commitments from Chase Beacom D (Bloomington, MN), Brockton Baker F (Verona, WI), Evan Bushy D (Thief River Falls, MN), Zach Okabe F (Oktotoks, AB), John Opilka D (Effingham, IL) and  Aaron Randazzo G (Alexandria, MN).
  • Husky Productions rink-side reporter Katie Emmer has joined Fox Sports North as a broadcaster for the fall and winter sports season More Here
  • Captains Practice has stated for SCSU men’s hockey. The coaching staff is allowed 4 hours per week with the squad.
  • I had a nice chat with coaches Gibbons and Oliver last night at a local event. There’s a lot of excitement about this years squad and the interesting and competitive schedule. This is certainly a very cohesive staff and they all have a great deal of respect for each other. They’ll be relying on senior leadership to guide the team the first half of the season.
  • Now is the time to get in on the “early bird” pricing for NCHC.tv. It’s currently $99 – a great bargain to catch the Huskies at many road venues. Access is HERE
  • You can catch future Husky Zach Okabe and his Grande Prairie Storm on Hockey TV tonight. Hockey TV is subscription based but has an outstanding variety of games daily.
