Bloomington’s Chase Beacom Commits to SCSU

St. Cloud, MN – The SCSU Huskies of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference have had a nice run of commitments from some very talented young defensemen. Already committing for the future are youngsters Jack Peart, Evan Bushy, John Opilka and Christian Miller. They apparently have landed another commitment in mobile, puck moving defenseman, Chase Beacom, a native of Bloomington, MN.  Beacom announced via Twitter on August 29 “I am honored and excited to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey and further my education at St. Cloud Stae University. Thank you to my family, friends and coaches on helping me get to where I am today.”

A 2003 birth date, the left shooting Beacom already has one year of varsity hockey under his belt skating in 25 games for Bloomington Kennedy H.S. compiling 1 goal and 6 assists for 7 points as a 9th grader. Along with previous SCSU commit and fellow defenseman, Jack Peart, he was ranked as one of the top 2003 birth dates in Minnesota. As a result, in May, Beacom was selected to participate in the World Selects Invite in Philadelphia showcasing the top 2003 birth dates in the world. He had 2 goals in 7 games in that showcase. Currently listed at 5’5″ and 140 pounds, Beacom has some growing to do but reminds of current Husky Jack Ahcan as a smart puck mover with grit.

Neutral Zone, a prominent amateur scouting and ranking service described Beacom as an “undersized athletic defender who is agile in tight areas. His lateral movement in the neutral zone was worth noting and we liked his battle level. He likes to hit and he squeezes off forwards on zone entries. Regularly he hits his outlets tape to tape and makes sound decisions with the puck. A nice skill and grit combo defender who will get better as he grows.”

Beacom could arrive on campus at SCSU for the 2022 season.
