” I’m really super, super, super, excited. I loved it when I visited there. I fell in love with the team, the coaches and everything that St. Cloud has to offer. It just felt right in my heart.” – Brendan Bushy

I think it’s safe to say the Huskies found the right fit in recruit Brendan Bushy who announced via Twitter on September 28 that he has committed to St. Cloud State University. He announced “Blessed and excited to announce my commitment to play college hockey at St. Cloud State University.”

Bushy is currently in his first year with the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League. The Thief River Falls native is an imposing 6′ 2″ 210 pound left-handed defenseman. A defense first blueliner, Bushy compiled 11 goals, 44 assists and 55 points over three years for Thief River Falls High School. In the Dubuque Fighting Saints release, head coach Jason Lammers said ” He earned the opportunity at St. Cloud because of his attitude, work ethic and commitment to his craft.”

US Hockey Report  described Bushy as  “physically imposing, moves well for his size and is efficient on the breakout. Known more for his sturdy play in the defensive zone and his toughness along the boards, Bushy is able to use his strength to overpower attackers and swallow up their scoring chances.”

Currently SCSU has one senior, two juniors, four sophomores and two freshman on its current roster. Bushy joins Elk River, MN recruit Nicklaus Perbix as a future blueliner on an extremely deep and gifted position for the Huskies.

No timeframe was given as to when he joins the Huskies but considering the current depth could be the 2018-19 season.
