First-year SCSU defenseman, Will Borgen (Moorhead, MN) survived the recent  roster cut by Team USA that was announced on December 19 and will be heading to Helsinki, Finland. The final roster for the USA World Junior team must be named by December 24.  The 2016 IIHF World Junior Tournament runs from December 26 to January 5, 2016 in Helsinki, Finland. Team USA opens play Dec. 26 against Canada, the defending gold medalists.
 
Borgen, a fourth round selection by the Buffalo Sabres in the  2015 NHL Entry Draft  has skated in all 18 games for the Huskies in the 2015-16 season and has 9 assists, 7 penalties for 14 minutes and is +8.  He also added an assist in Team USA’s first exhibition game – a 4-0 win over UMass on 12/18.
 
Team USA has an exhibition game on Tuesday, December 22 with Finland.  Tournament games will take place from December 22 through January 5.
