Travis St. Denis scored twice and the Quinnipiac Bobcats defeated the Huskies 4-1 at High Point Solutions Arena  in Hamden, CT to complete a weekend sweep of #9 SCSU. St. Denis picked up four goals over the weekend to lead the Bobcats to a 6-0-0 start to the 2015-16 season. The losses dropped the SCSU record to 4-2-0.

The Bobcats surged to a 2-0 first period lead with goals by St. Denis, his fifth of the season at 14:49 and a short-handed goal at 17:05 by Soren Jonzzon. Jonzzon skated a fly route down ice and retrieved a long pass from Connor Clifton just outside the blueline. All alone, Jonzzon had enough time to skate the puck towards SCSU goaltender Charlie Lindgren and unload a full slap shot that beat Lindgren glove side for a 2-0 first period lead. A relatively close contest until the final five minutes of the period, the Huskies outshot the Bobcats 15-11.

SCSU came out with determination in the second period and dominated territorial control for long stretches of the second period ultimately outshootng the Bobcats 20-7. The hard work finally paid off on a great effort by junior forward, Ben Storm. Storm entered the Bobcat zone and made a nice pass to Blake Winbiecki who placed the puck on net and Storm buried the puck for his first goal of the season. The Huskies had a key opportunity on the power play with less than three minutes left in period two but were unable to convert.

The Bobcats assured the sweep with a power play goal by Travis St. Denis, his second of the night and fourth of the weekend at 12:34 and another even strength goal at 13:10 by Minnesota native Tommy Schut, his second of the season for a 4-1 final.

SCSU outshot Quinnipiac 42-30 for the contest  with Charlie Lindgren turning aside 26/30 Shots and QU’s Garteig stopping a career high 41/42.  SCSU was 0/3 on the power play while QU was 1/2.
