Junior forward Jonny Brodzinski forgoes his senior season to sign with the LA KIngs
Junior forward Jonny Brodzinski agreed to terms with The LA Kings on an entry level contract Wednesday. Brodzinski, second on the team in points with 38 led SCSU in goals with 21. He finished the 2014-15 season with 11 power play goals and led the team with 161 shots on goal. For his career, Brodzinski had 64 goals and 48 assists for 112 points in 120 games. The Blaine, MN high school graduate was drafted in the fifth round (148th overall) by the LA Kings in the 2013 NHL draft. Brodzinski’s younger brother Michael was selected seven picks earlier in the same draft by the San Jose Sharks. The Kings top minor league affiliate is the Manchester Monarchs of the America Hockey League. It’s unknown at this time whether Brodzinski will report to Manchester for the AHL playoff run. Former SCSU players Nic Dowd and Kevin Gravel are former teammates of Brodzinski at SCSU and both are with Manchester. Brodzinski’s younger brother Easton has made a verbal commitment to play hockey at SCSU.
